Anniversary pt 2

Well, we are back from The Three Crowns

K* drove us there and back. What a wonderful thing it is having a teenager who can drive.

M& had the duck again. We have been there a dozen or more times since we moved down here, and she has had the duck EVERY TIME. This time I had the duck too, for the first time, and I have to admit it is rather wonderful.

For dessert she had something involving apples and, apparently, hay, and I had something involving ice cream, cream, meringue, and ... well they used to call it Irish Mist and made it with Jamesons. Now they are calling it Scotch Mist and the spirit is unnamed but it tastes better than a cheap blend and there seems to be rather a lot of it in there.

Many thanks to everyone for the good wishes.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of my friends all the best for the festive season and the coming New Year.

This has not been a good year, and I will not be sorry to see the back of it, but I have now had a large glass of wine and a couple of beers and am in a cheerful frame of mind which I hope will persist for the next few days at least.

Mud in your eye! Up your bottom!

(and I really should have posted that as I typed it, rather than correcting...)

You're all my besh mates, you are.

Thank you... bellinghman and uitlander, and anyone else who has expressed their fondness for Stinking Bishop.

On venturing into the deli in Wootton Bassett yesterday in search of a Christmas cheeseboard, we spotted it in the cabinet, so we have a small piece along with the Yarg, Wiltshire Loaf, Brinkworth Blue, Stilton, Brie, Cheddar and Wensleydale.

We all like it a great deal, so thank you.
